CIE – SELF ENHANCEMENT PROGRAMME

On 13th May 2011, CIE Grade VII students celebrated the Self Enhancement Programme finale. The first programme held at multipurpose hall after the inauguration. This programme was initiated as we wanted to give them a global platform and holistic development. The students have truly enriched and enhanced themselves in this short session spent with us.

The programme started with an opening song followed by Yoga display, students experienced the rich tradition of India by learning Yoga and gave a fantastic demonstration of different asanas.

Swetha, Akanksha, Soumika and Pragnya shared their thoughts and feelings about their two weeks’ experience in the senior school.

The cultural programme started with two western numbers, Backstreet boys and Gasolina, the dance incorporated hip-hop style.

Students learnt and cherished in the dramatics and theater classes. The students were divided into 2 groups and given the basic theme of representing a set of people in the year 2090 who are very upset about the extent of damage they have caused to the environment. Both the scripts are written entirely by the students themselves. They have also picked the characters, created their props, planned the stage act, etc.

Lastly the students presented the traditional dance of Rajasthan, the Ghoomar dance, spinning and whirling their ghagras.

We aimed that our pupils gain a multifaceted learning experience, so that we produce a multidimensional individual.

CIE Coordinator

A Multi–Flavoured Memory of Hong Kong

Dear Parents,

5 days, 4 nights and a few airports, flights, ferries, buses later it feels great to be back at the home base!  Needless to say, the week that went by was like a whirlwind and felt more like 5 mins and 4 secs, thanks to the wonderful group of 28 angels who kept us on our toes!!! It was a fabulous group and their exemplary behaviour, patience, enthusiasm and, of course, their pranks and humour, was a constant source of pride and energy for us!

On behalf of our Principal Capt. Bajaj, Ms. Raksha - Faculty and I, it gives me great pleasure and pride in stating that this Hong Kong trip has been one of the most memorable trips ever for us.

Right from day 1 the kids kept us in splits, their uninhibited chatter, their questions, their idiosyncrasies kept us on our toes! Their lively presence and discussions held us spellbound. Some of them are extremely wise and sensible and it was a delightful bonding time for all of us which we generally tend to miss out during our daily routine at school. The "getting to know" sessions were interesting and fun and we definitely had many things that we learnt from them!!!!

The morning wake up calls and the little ones refusing to wake up; the late night chats, pillow fights, the mealtime fun, not to forget their craze for shopping!!  Wherever  we went, we were the centre of attraction. We met many curious yet pleasant Chinese who were thrilled to see our good looking Indian children and marvelled at our skin colour and big eyes. People were thronging to click pictures with our group. The children said that they felt like celebrities. There are so many pleasant memories that we have from this trip!

I reiterate the children were a matter of pride to all of us. Not once did we hear them complain about the long waits at the immigration counters (Macau), at the wait for their rides (Ocean Park), the crowd (at Disney land).  It only speaks of their splendid upbringing to which the credit goes to each one of you.

In order to ensure that we retain and cherish the fun of every single moment of the trip, I request you to kindly mail us all the photographs that the children have clicked with their respective cameras as we intend to make a video of all the pics and send it to all parents. The photographs may either be sent on a CD or uploaded onto Picasa on the web and the link sent to us so that we can pool it altogether from these sources.  If you are sending it through the net, please mail the link to either hema@oakridge.in or raksha.dand@oakridge.in

Thank you once again

Warmest of regards

Ms.Hema Sanjay
