Academic Open House for Preprimary

“Behind the parent stood the School and behind the Teacher stood the Home”

In order to do this we believe it is very essential for our parents to be acquainted with how a day at Oakridge looks. The Open House for Preprimary started on the September 10, 2012 with enthusiasm and focus .It gave an opportunity for the parents to participate in the classroom activities.  They got involved in our learning engagements. All the parents had nostalgic feelings and were taken back to the times when they were students and could clearly see their own classroom.

Grade III's Reading Bingo

Pearl, Ishivi and Aayush from grade 3 G are the first trio who have completed their reading bingo  from the entire Grade 3. Congratulation to them. They were awarded certificates for their successful endeavor. They have shown enthusiasm and responsibility towards the task and have set a benchmark for all.

Little Toddlers All Around

School is the second home of every child. The inquisitive nursery students of Oakridge explored, discovered and learnt new facts about their ongoing unit “MySchool”. They inquired as when they visited different places within their school. They enjoyed singing songs in the Music room, reading books in the library and shake a leg with the dance facilitators. They were excited seeing children in the swimming area and started discussing with their friends about the costume, glasses, and pool. The children were able to identify school logo and met different segment heads in the school.

Field Trip to Sanjeeviah Park

In context to present unit of inquiry children went on an outing with their friends to celebrate togetherness and share experiences with each other. The little ones of PP2 went for a field trip on Friday 21 September 2012 to Sanjeeviah Park near Necklace road. 

Children were excited and enjoyed the different rides at the park and played games with their friends.    

Grade III's Morning Assembly

Grade III B conducted the morning assembly on 18^th September on the occasion of Ganesh Chaturthi.  Children presented a talk show which answered questions from “Why is it celebrated?” to “The environmental impact caused by the festival”. Grade 3 on behalf of Oakridge promised to make this Ganesh Chaturthi as eco-friendly as possible. Sloka recitation by Aayush was commendable.

Parent Reflection on Pre Primary Activities

"We are  very happy seeing Aashi nowadays. She has become so independent and needs no one’s help in her day to day activities. She comes home and shares with us what all happened in school. And is really very excited to go to school. She is singing National Anthem atleast 20 times a day and that to with a great respect. She wants all of us to do the same. "It has been few weeks since Neil started his PP1 at Oakridge. I have a lot of things to share with you. Everyday Neil came back home from school he would say school was so much fun. He told me about activities he had done during the day every day. He is happier than ever. One day he came home with monkey and crocodile finger puppets and he told the story accurately using the puppets to everyone in the family. It was very cute. He told me about sorting activities and also how ma’am asked him to make a circle out of sorted color pencils. We love when he sang "Mommy Daddy I love you" song. I am not sure if he sang correctly, but it was such a nice song. Last week when he got off the bus he could not wait to tell me the story about Gingerbread man. He asked me to sit on a sidewalk and listen to the story. I had to sit and listen. Overall Neil is doing so great. He also talked about watching many movies at school"-Pajaree (Neil's Mom)

“The other day when u took Dia to the Botanical garden, she told me that she saw many plants n flowers.She also showed me a leaf which she brought from there and told me that itis Eucalips leaf (I think she meant eucalyptus tree leaf). She told methat it is used to cure sick people. The same day I had a headache and I told her I want to take rest...she immediately replied that u crush this leaf and take out its juice then mix it in strawberry flavor so that it doesn't taste bitter and drink it. Your headache will be gone. It made me laugh but i felt nice that she understood that Eucalyptus leaf has some medicinal value”- NidhiMehra (Dia's Mom)

“Wanted to share couple of pictures of Rishit, he was sorting out vegetables on Sunday when we got back from market. 

He volunteered to help me out in sorting vegetables and keeping them in the fridge. He said " I learnt sorting in school” so can I sort vegetables mama”- Archana (Rishit's Mom)

“This is what Tanish had drawn by tracing my thumb and first finger - he made a bird out of it, standing on the grass. Then he made a sun and a mountain in the background. The second one - he sketched Harry Potter, after celebrating Harry Potter day in the school”.- Vishal Sahay (Tanish's Dad)

“Shreyu is asking me that why u pick 2 different colourcups.when u did came to class ma. U should pick 3same colour cups mamma. He is also telling he is learning numbers with the help of fun activities .And he also using sight  word /pass word i.e. "my "he was playing with blocks ,his sister pulling his blocks then he said ,Yuvika this is "my "block. Be Charitable Everyday

That 13th century friend of the poor, St Elizabeth of Hungary, married Ludwig of Thuringia who at first asked his wife to limit her works of mercy. But when she heard of a dying leper, Elizabeth hurried to help, carrying a large basket of foodstuff. On the way, she accidentally met her husband. In her embarrassment, she threw part of her skirt over the basket to hide what she was carrying; Ludwig became curious and wanted to know what she was hiding. Elizabeth could do nothing but reveal the contents of the basket she was carrying; instead of the groceries she was actually carrying, the basket was filled with flowers of all kinds, most of them roses!

Ludwig realized what had happened. The miracle moved him deeply and he gave Elizabeth full leave to carry out her countless charities. It is said that for several years, both in winter and summer, roses grew above St Elizabeth’s grave.

Works of charity are more beautiful than any flowers. They please God and they please all humans. Don’t they? What about resolving to do something about it during the 365 days available to us during each year of our lives?- - Adapted by –Shalini Samuel (Coordinator – Grade 5 & 6)
