Harsh Vardhan Lahoti’s Success Saga

Oakridger Harsh Vardhan Lahoti’s success saga continues year after year. Breaking his own prior records, he is gushing ahead to conquer the horizon. His recent victory which won him the Junior Title in Andhra Pradesh state is just another example of it. The tournament held at St. Pauls High School Hyderabad on 28-29th July where Harsh participated in the Under-18 category.
Added to it, he also reached the Semi-finals of Youth Category which is under 21years during this tournament.

IBDP Icebreaker Camp

An icebreaker camp was organized for the IBDP students by Erudite adventure at Mount Opera. Whether it is joining a new school or shifting to a new curriculum, the beginning of every journey we undertake is always marked with a bit of uncertainty and apprehension. “Icebreakers” was an extraordinary weekend which not only eased these concerns but created strong bonds of friendships that will remain with the students for a long time.
Teamwork was the base for every activity the students undertook, and this brought all of them closer to each other. There was always a feeling of support and encouragement surrounding them which helped them to overcome every challenge they faced. Those moments of success – standing together at the summit of a hill after a long struggle to the top, watching everyone swallow their fear and grapple down a cliff (rappelling), or working together to score a point in monster volleyball – filled them with pride for the team. Relationships were budding everywhere, with each other, with seniors, and even with the teachers
This weekend did much more than just “break the ice”; it created a pool of togetherness. At the end of this weekend the students saw themselves not only as part of one group or one grade, but as part of the Oakridge family.
The weather which was not congenial till the day before the camp suddenly turned in our favor. When we were about to board the buses there was a spell of rain that reminded us of the song ‘The showers of blessing’…and it was a blessing indeed.

CAS Activity Reflection of Grade VII

On the 30th of July 2013, we, the students of grade VII went to a school called Vivekananda Vidhyalaya. We went there for a CAS program where we had to teach the students something we wanted to.  I and my friends taught them cricket. We played a match with them to give them practice and I discovered the joy of giving. We had a lot of fun and learnt new things ourselves in the process. Everything went as planned and we all played a good game together. In the process, we became sensitive to their condition and understood how many problems they face and started respecting what things we have. I have become more compromised and became brave enough to sacrifice things for everyone’s happiness. I am even more confident and can make better decisions now. I couldn’t wait for this day, and finally it came. I am looking forward to another trip – Ritvik (grade VII)

We all went to Vivekananda Vidyalay  and all of the boys except some of them we all played cricket I was so happy to see that they all were playing so nicely I thought the school would be big but when I went there I felt bad for them they didn’t have good classrooms. But they all were playing very nicely. We all enjoyed. They didn’t know how to bowl we made them learn how to bat too but they were playing like champions. They were batting well too. They didn’t know English some of them of our classes also taught them English, maths etc.. That was the end of a wonderful journey I hope we go there again - Shaazib (grade VII)

We had to go to Vivekanada Vidyalay. We planned many things to teach. Some were creativity, drawing and maths. I and my friend taught many things about these topics. I think this benefited me and all the children there.
I think they will remember me. I have learned how to work hard and apply creativity. After the CAS program I am good in came to realize that I am good in group co-operation and I am caring; yes, I can apply all these things and achieve a high point in my life. Playing games can happen anywhere but learning new things can be learnt rarely. I am waiting for my next CAS program - Shilpika (grade VII)

On 30-7-13 we all went to the Vivekananda Vidyalay. When we reached there we were allotted to teach in different classrooms. While teaching the students I came to know my strengths and abilities. Before going to the school, our group planned to teach them to draw, but there we thought them Maths, English and communication. During this CAS program I realized that I am a good communicator and open minded. I was not so successful in achieving my goals. In a shortcut this service can also be known as CS. This is our first and best CAS program - Sarmishtha

True Friend

Horror gripped the heart of the World War I soldier as he saw his lifelong friend fall in battle. Caught in a trench with continuous gunfire whizzing over his head, the soldier asked his lieutenant if he might go out into the “no man’s land” between the trenches to bring his fallen comrade back.
“You can go,” said the lieutenant, “but I don’t think it will be worth it. Your friend is probably dead and you may throw your life away.” The lieutenant’s advice didn’t matter, and the soldier went anyway. Miraculously he managed to reach his friend, hoist him onto his shoulder and bring him back to their company’s trench. As the two of them tumbled in together to the bottom of the trench, the officer checked the wounded soldier, and then looked kindly at his friend.

“I told you it wouldn’t be worth it,” he said. “Your friend is dead and you are mortally wounded.”
“It was worth it, though, sir,” said the soldier.
“What do you mean; worth it?” responded the Lieutenant. “Your friend is dead.”
“Yes, Sir” the private answered. “But it was worth it because when I got to him, he was still alive and I had the satisfaction of hearing him saying, “Jim…, I knew you’d come.”
Many times in life, whether a thing is worth doing or not, really depends on how you look at it. Take up all your courage and do something your heart tells you to do so that you may not regret not doing it later in your life. May each and every one of you be blessed with the company of TRUE FRIENDS? A true friend is one who walks in, when the rest of the world walks out.
