A splendid day in nursery

 

Nursery children had their first show case “A DAY IN NURSERY”.

The day started with freeplay followed with prayer and rhymes at circle time. The children sang rhymes and songs enthusiastically with gestures. They moved to other nursery resource centers to show their skills at storytelling, role play , self management activities and many more.. The parents were awestruck by the sheer potential and performance of their little ones. The success of the event was self evident through the glint in the eyes of the parents. It was all wrapped with zigzag & balloon race for the parents & their little ones.

Diwali Dhoom Dhadaka in Grade 2

  

Grade 2’s celebrated Diwali with great zeal and gusto. Even though the children came in the school attire yet the festive spirit was enlightened by the sweets they brought to share with their classmates. They made the day colorful with their enchanting smiles and striking Rangolis in their class rooms. Below are some pictures taken from Grade 2 which evidently shows that the festive season is just around the corner!

An eco-friendly Diwali–Mission of Grade5 Oakridgers

  

24^th October was a busy day for Grade 5.T hey took an initiative to educate parents and teachers on the importance of celebrating an eco-friendly Diwali. The day started with Vinayak’s speech in the Assembly on the importance of celebrating eco-friendly diwali. The children made banners and went around the school to spread the awareness. Cards were made and distributed amongst the parents.

“Wellness Wonder”–Grade2 UOI

 

GUEST LECTURE BY DR. NAZIA KHAN

In context to the unit of inquiry “Wellness Wonder”, grade 2 children had a guest lecture by the school doctor Dr.Nazia Khan, during which she shared tips on importance of following healthy routines. She spoke to the students about the significance of having balanced diet, participating in physical activities, getting enough sleep, as well as washing hands to stay healthy.

Guest Lecture by a Dentist

  

Continuing with the Guest Lecture series on Unit of Inquiry, “Wellness Wonder”, an informative talk was organized on the importance of proper oral hygiene, by Dr. Shipa Singh from Smiline Dental Hospitals.

Dr. Shipa Singh showed a very interesting animated video on oral hygiene. She also shared with the students the reasons for tooth cavities and decay and how the same can be prevented by regular and proper brushing of the teeth, twice daily. Students also learned to clean the gap between the teeth only with floss and not to prick their teeth with any sharp material. It was a good learning session for young learners.

Yoga Session with Grade 2 students- Parent Speak

        

It was an early Saturday after a late Friday night. The whole family trudged along with the routine morning duties trying to get to school in time. Nevertheless, we made it to school at just about 7.00am.The sun was already well out and a gentle breeze was blowing. “Oh for a nap under a tree!” I thought. The teachers, however, were all up and the kids just as enthusiastic as ever. Together we were all led to the soccer field, quickly made to pick some yoga mats and introduced the yoga instructor, Manjula Ma’am. And the session began….slowly; one by one the instructor walked us through and made us perform each asana very methodically. I was a little afraid at first….at my age would it be wise to indulge myself in all the stretching? But then I looked around and ouch, there were grandparents too in the line-up. Hey, if they could do it, so could I. At least I owed it to myself to give it a shot after all these years of plain cardio and aerobics. And before I realized it I fell into the rhythm. I was one with nature and found myself shutting out all the reticence and ambient noise. All I could hear was the instructor’s counts and me falling in line with surprising ease. Right from the butterfly pose to the dead-body pose and covering the whole gamut in between including the tree pose and the snake pose, it was pleasantly rejuvenating. The highlight of the session was the laughter therapy which I had never done before. The session was well organized with the precision of a well-oiled machine. We all felt much rejuvenated at the end of the session. Hey, it really works. I give the yoga session the best accolade I can think of…. looking forward to more of these in the future, if possible. I would love to come for a repeat session!

Proud Oakridge Parents

 

We as a proud Oakridge parents of Pravallika – PP1 E and Pranav – 2A would like to share some fun filled vital events happened few days back.

I am an Amazon employee and we had an yearly company wide family event at Golconda Resorts, Gandipet.

Among many other kids, Pravallika and Pranav both participated in the event. Pranav gave a speech on “Space Shuttle”

while Pravallika performed a song “We are the musicians of Oakridge…..” and the response was gigantic from the audience.

DJ was so delighted she made the audience sing “We are the musicians of Amazon…”

I have become an overnight luminary at Amazon, people ask me how is my “Dumm Duma” girl, her name has been replaced J

I want to take this opportunity to thank the teachers and management of Oakridge.

As always all the teachers and management , you should be proud of your kids , you all are very inspiring.
