Entertaining and Enthralling

Ms.Prasanthi Mulpuri,
 English Teacher

When Jyothi Ma’am (Vice Principal) announced in the morning that we are going to play Antakshari after lunch it was music to every ones’ ears (except for those who were bogged down by work, which most of us were).  After the Cricket match in the hot sun and the hectic rush to get our organizers organized, a game of Antakshari was a welcome relief (though V. P.  Ma’am had to literally pull most of the teachers away from their computers).
The teachers slowly trickled in to the dining hall where the Antakshari was held.  Once there every one forgot about their work and started getting totally involved, as the music started working its magic. As the teachers were warming up, Geeve, Terry, Ann and Samuel rendered few melodious songs.
The two teams into which the teachers were divided, had to fight it out to get the best singers on their side.  Surprisingly they even fought to get the co-ordinators on their side.  Finally the game started with the usual Antakshari round where both the teams sang songs from the 1970’s as that was the theme of the Antakshari.  The second round had three words for the teams to use and sing a song using them.  Here V. P.  ma’am made it difficult for the teams by selecting singers for them with her eyes “closed”.
Then came the dumb charades round which was the most enjoyable round.  It became spicier when the co-ordinators were roped in to enact the words of the song.  The last round, the Dhun round decided the winner.
The teams challenged, fought and cajoled each other with songs like – Haal kaisa hai janaab ka, Aa dheke zara kisme kitna hai dhum, Humnae tumko dheka tumnae humko dheka, itni shakti humae dena daata, yeh dosti hum nahi thodenge, dushman na kare dost ne woh kaam kiya hai, etc.
All said and done it was a refreshing, entertaining and enthralling way to end the week at School.
