PRIZE DAY the much awaited event was celebrated at Oakridge on 15th July. The Guest of honour for the occasion was Mohammed Ali Baig, a theatre personality and an ad film maker. He is also the founder of Qadir Ali Baig Theatre Festival. The programme began with a hymn 'Lab pe aathi hai dua' , a composition by the famous poet Iqbal. Mr.Baig speaking on the occasion reiterated the need to inculcate among children the significance of theatre not just as a hobby but as a subject that enhances their learning skills. He also spoke about his foray into theatre as something that was handed over to him as a legacy by his father. He felt that the performing arts help a child grow in his perceptions, his skills of communication and also his levels of confidence. It also brings a child closer to real life experiences helping him in his emotional and intellectual growth.
It was celebration time and the auditorium was packed with children with beaming faces ready to receive their awards and certificates for excellence in academics and sports.There were also special category prizes given to Rashi Gupta and Charu Gupta of Grade XII for achieving a national topper status in Business Studies and Biology. Amartya Sen House bagged the Oakridge Championship Trophy for the third consecutive year.The programme was much appreciated by the students and faculty at Oakridge.
