MUNs seem to be the perfect platform for youngsters today providing them with an opportunity to debate and resolve issues concerning the world. Oakridgers were a part of one such delegation which participated in an MUN hosted by the Indus International School at B'lore. The three day conference was a good learning experience to the students who indulged in intense debating sessions provoking interesting suggestions to some pressing problems like Nuclear terrorism, Human Rights violation in conflict stricken nations in the Middle East and North Africa, Military intervention in conflict areas such as Libya to name a few.
The conference had a large delegation of 300 plus delegates from schools based in Calcutta, Pune, Delhi and an international delegation from Mongolia.
As an observer I feel that the experience at an MUN does not just stimulate responses from students to global issues but prepares them to be leaders in initiating a social change. Every country is a stakeholder in the sustainability process and these experiences provide students the opportunity to visualize and use their signature strengths in creating a world of a new order.
