Actions speak louder than words..that's what this group of young Oakridgers believe. The students Gitanjali, Amandha, Nikhil and Manoj got together to make chocolates and sold them in their neighbourhood to raise some money for charity. They were able to collect a modest amount of 1250/- which they donated to the 'Home for the Disabled' in Bansilalpet, Secunderabad. This is what they have to say..."We spent time with the disabled children and it was not long before we realized how fortunate we were. Sharing their experiences of simple but unfortunate circumstances really touched our hearts. We went back home with a determined will to continue the good cause that we had taken up".
It's wonderful to see children taking up these little initiatives. Community service I believe provides them a platform to develop empathy and build positive relationships which will go a long way in empowering them to grow as good human beings.
Oakridge International School is a centre for excellence in education. In keeping with the rich heritage of India, it will stress the simultaneous development of the Spirit, the Mind and the Body and endeavor to send out compassionate, responsible and innovative students committed to change and progress in the development of India and the global environment.
