The
RSEP for Grade VIII was ‘The Three Musketeers’ — a novel by Alexandre Dumas.
Set in the 17th Century, it recounts the adventures of a young man named
d'Artagnan after he leaves home to travel to Paris, to join the Musketeers of
the Guard. The students were encouraged to read the original book and write a
summary, review, comic strip, movie script, travelogue or a dialogue of any two
chapters.
20%
of the class expressed their creativity through a comic strip showcasing their favorite
chapters. It was a pleasure reading the comic strip and the artwork done by the
students was excellent.
35%
of the class wrote a summary of the book and highlighted specific chapters that
had interested them. It was an interesting perspective from the students.
25%
of the students wrote a review of some of the chapters from the book. Many expressed
an interest in watching the movie and series.
The
rest of the class wrote travelogues and movie scripts showcasing their favorite
characters. The movie scripts of the students showed keen insight into what
they had read. The class is now motivated to read great classics from across
the world. Reading classics has enriched their written skills.
