Musicadenza” with Republic Day Celebrations 26th Jan 2012!

The Republic Day is a day of national rejoicing and a red letter day in our country. The day is celebrated with pomp and show, zeal and spirit, throughout the country as India won her freedom on the 15th of August 1947 and became a Republic on 25th of January, 1950.The new constitution of free India came into force with effect from this day.

The Republic Day was celebrated in our school with great éclat. The flag hoisting ceremony began at 9:00m.Our Principal Capt. Rohit Sen Bajaj unfurled the national flag amidst the lilting tunes of our National Anthem sung by the school choir after which he addressed the gathering followed by stirring speeches by the students.

This was followed by breakfast in the dining hall after which there was “Musicadenza” a showcase of performing arts in the Multipurpose Hall from 10:00am to 11:00am.

The chief guest was Mr. Joe Koster Director of the Hyderabad Western Music Foundation (Oakridge is a member) HWMF-purpose is: propagation of Western Classical Music and Jazz through concerts and workshops, giving a platform and exposure for local talents. He is a music teacher at ISH, as well a conductor of a local choir, called the "Deccan Voices". Besides that he does NGO-Development work for a Swiss organisation, mainly involved in the rural areas of AP. The parents of the participants were also invited.

The program began by lighting of the lamp by the Chief Guest and the SMT as Nikhila Swarna of grade 7 recited a shlokha to invoke the Blessings of God. This was followed by welcoming and felicitating the chief guest. The school song book was released and the chief guest made an impressive speech which left the audience spellbound. This was followed by a variety of music and dance performances by the students of junior and senior school which enthralled the audience. The sequence of performances were as follows

· Eastern song by the junior school students

· Beat Boxing by the senior school students

· Western group song by the junior school students

· Western group song by the senior school students

· Acapella by the senior school students

· Senior School Band

· Peacock dance by the senior school students

· Rock and Roll - western dance by the junior school students

&

· Creations eastern dance by the senior school students
