Well today I was thinking about - The Oakridge alumni and my talk with Tejo Ananth. What if we could build a legion of loyal supporters? Just imagine: hundreds of mentors, volunteers, and advocates for Oakridge schools. Alumni are natural resource for a school; they already have ownership and are familiar with the policies of the School, and they love to talk about ‘back when’. Now I view alumni in two ways:
- Creating Alumni.
- Keeping and getting the most out of Alumni.
Creating an alumni base is probably a very valuable commodity to have for a successful School. I am looking at Oakridge alumni having an underlying connection or bond with each other. Especially powerful is the use of sports in this equation. Cultivated properly, this bond could produce some very passionate sporting events which could lead to great “game spirit”. This in turn will lead to many memorable sporting events which is what sports are all about; the experience.
Tejo Ananth of the 2009 batch, an IB student has followed his dream and is pursing a course in Sports Management. He has had the distinction of being appointed as a representative in the student’s union for his course in Sports Management. Ananth has volunteered to coach the girls and boys Oakridge soccer team for two months .
What I am looking at is sharing the memories and building the future. I understand, it takes enthusiasm and the willingness of several individuals to get the whole ball rolling .
