There are no passengers on Spaceship Earth. We are all crew….this probably sums up the need to conserve and protect our environment. It was good to see Oakridgers take the initiative of celebrating Environment Day and take up the cause of sensitizing one and all about protecting nature. A special assembly was organized which started with the song ‘Heal the world’ in sync with the message of creating awareness against destruction of any kind.
The Principal Capt.Bajaj speaking on the occasion reiterated the need for children to be responsible citizens by encouraging everybody on the importance of adopting measures like keeping our lakes and rivers clean and not polluting them. He also announced that the school will follow a no plastic policy as a step to preserve our environment.
The students also initiated a Gift Green campaign urging everybody to gift a sapling or an eco friendly product to their friends, teachers or someone they would like to share a gift with. To initiate the process the students of Grade XII gifted eco friendly products to the Principal and the Vice Principal. There was a plantation drive organized by the grade XII students who brought saplings and planted them in the school premises. They also took a pledge to protect environment in all possible ways that they can by recycling, car pooling etc
