As 21 ‘Peace Warriors’ trooped out of the bus on to the Brahma Kumaris Shanti Sarovar campus, a sense of calm already seemed to prevail.
We were welcomed by a cheerful BK (Brahma Kumar) Surat Singh who then ushered us into a large quiet room where the mood for the session was set by a brief meditation and a chanting playing in the background. His ear to ear smile further enhanced the aura of peace that hung about him.
He spoke about things ranging from positivity to inner & outer peace, threw a few questions at the kids which they answered enthusiastically, gave us acrostics for ‘peace’ & ‘silence’ & with equal ease responded to the questions from the children.
‘Ordinary’,’ Pin Drop’, ‘Dead’ and ‘Sweet’ are the 4 types of ‘silences’ he also enlightened us about. As we experienced the flavor of ‘sweet silence‘ at the end of the session, we walked out with a sense of true calm & his words ‘sweet silence is when happiness is supreme’ still ringing in our ears.
We visited the humongous auditorium, with world class acoustics, an 8 language translation facility & a seating capacity of 2000 before bidding our good-byes.
“It was nice experiencing actual peace & I learnt a lot” were Nitya’s (VI D) thoughts, Ananya (VI C) had to say, “I learnt about how to be quiet in different situations” and Yash (VI E) has promised to try & apply it with his brother & not hitting him!
The one predominant feeling that this beautiful & serene place seemed to ‘shout out’ to me, was, “All we are saying, is give peace a chance”, echoing what the Beatles told us a few decades ago in 1969!
Thanks ever so much for the mention, I really appreciate it. School Management Solutions
