On Wednesday, 8th Febuary, we had a guest lecture by Ms.Anjanaa. Ms.Anjanaa is the founder of Move the wheels. Move the Wheels has been there for 2 years. She started the session by making us sign a signature campaign which is for proof that she has come to Oakridge and has taught grade VI something. We all blindly signed it. She started out by asking us certain questions, like what is education? What is literacy? Etc. She taught us many things about education like education leads to a lifelong love for learning and you will be learning everywhere by everyone.

She showed us some signs in different places which warned people, and said that illiterate people cannot read these which could be harmful. Then we understood that we should not take the ability to read and write for granted. Then, she taught us about the four aspects of education.

The four aspects of education are Academics, culture, ecology and social. Education is made up of these four aspects. She told us about vulnerablility, which meant weakness or getting cheated. There are three different types of vulnerabilities, medical, social and financial. She also said that educated people are also cheated. She called up one of my friends to read the signature campaign paper, it was all good until the last paragraph, where it said all the opposite things of what we liked. This was an example, students ourselves were getting cheated. But as it wasn’t a stamp paper, we were safe.

In the end, she toclip_image002[7]ld us about her government school and that the government had spent 300 crores just for the development of government schools in two years. She also told us that the government made a rule that every child between the ages of 6 to 14 had to receive education. We were impressed with all the information that she told us. We are also hoping to go to Ms. Anjanaa’s school. We were all very thankful to Ms.Anjanaa for the guest lecture and hope to meet her again.
