WORLD MUSIC DAY

SENSE THE POWER OF MUSIC” was the theme as OIS celebrated The World Music Day on 21st June 2011 at MPH, Newton Campus.

The event started sharp at 2:20 pm with a classical composition by senior and junior School music faculty followed by a fantastic instrumental fusion extravaganza which enthralled the audience.

It evolved an incredibly rich and varied tonal palette, bristling with emotions
and the compositions were enormously entertaining for everyone.

Soon after we had the senior school students singing a medley of English and Hindi songs which got everyone singing, clapping and tapping their feet, to the lilting tunes.

To pep up the mood of the audience the prefects got into action and danced to liven up the atmosphere. The comperes did a wonderful job and cheered the participants encouraging their performances.

The budding students of grade VI sang a variety of melodious folk songs to hail the spirit of music adding a new flavour to the program.

Besides this the Senior School Band performed numb and my enemy to name a few.

The celebration also provided a platform to novice music talents of OIS, they were motivated to join the celebration towards the end of the program and surprisingly we had 3 students from the audience performing spontaneously.

The highlight of the day was Beat Boxing by the cultural secretary which was thoroughly enjoyed by the audience. Loud cheers and applauses echoed in the auditorium creating an aura of excitement.

On  day 2  of the celebrations , students showcased  Indian classical music by their melodious voices singing a composition of Annamacharya and modelling eminent composers with profiles of PYP.

Day 3 saw the PYP students singing  melodious compositions in Hindustani in classical style in the morning assembly.

The entire music week was culminated on the Friday 24 June, students performed and presented their skills of playing various instruments followed by a very beautiful song “showers of blessing”.

The students have penned down their thoughts on MUSIC and this is certainly heartening to see as MUSIC is one language that has no barriers .We were pretty surprised and impressed to see their thoughts in different languages like Korean,Hindi,Spanish ,Telugu and English.
