VISUAL ARTS WEEK–Jr.School

ART is a part of our everyday life. We hardly even stop to think about it! Our food is art, shoes are art, and our dress is art. All the functional design, well done is art. So you can say,” Art is something that is both  functional and aesthetically pleasing to our eyes.”

In Visual Arts Week we have tried to create the enthusiasm about art among the learners as well as the teachers. In this regard we have planned few activities, introduction to the artists, a small quiz based on different art styles, as well as demonstrations and few quick tips during the assembly . We  conducted the  inter- house competition for kids.A art competition for teachers was conducted.

Grade IV-VI kids participated in grade wise creative art competitions during their regular visual art periods.

We  arranged a gallery walk to showcase all that was done during the Visual Arts Week.

Grade VII CAS Activity

The children of HCHW( Rehabilitation centre for street kids) met their Santa Claus little late this time. A bunch of Oakridgers , from grade VII went  to teach them last Friday(11th Feb 11). The Oakridgers shared their snacks with the students and played fun filled games. The Oakridgers donated clothes, stationeries, cricket kits etc .

I was extremely happy when Salim from HCHW gifted me a beautiful card made by him. If you are reading my blog post and want to contribute for HCHW, please contact Mr. Venkat Reddy   for further details.

INDIANA UNIVERSITY-PURDUE UNIVERSITY, INDIANAPOLIS

On February 18th 2011, OIS hosted one of the many periodic college sessions geared towards notifying the 11th grade students of college options available to them abroad. Ms.Jennifer Mathews visited us with a presentation about their students, faculty, and resources. This college was INDIANA UNIVERSITY-PURDUE UNIVERSITY, INDIANAPOLIS, IUPUI for short, located in USA.

Indiana University-Purdue University Indianapolis (IUPUI) a partnership between Indiana and Purdue Universities, is Indiana’s urban research and academic health sciences campus. IUPUI is a large public research University located in Indianapolis. This unique partnership offers students degrees from Indiana University or from Purdue, depending on the student’s major. Among the “Schools” those most popular with international students are the IU Kelley School of Business, the IU School of Informatics, the Purdue School of Engineering and Technology, and the Purdue School of Science. But beyond these Schools, they attract international students in the Fine Arts, Economics, Communication Studies, and Geographic Information Science in the School of Liberal Arts, Tourism, Conventions and Events Management, Forensic and Investigative Science and many health related disciplines such as health and hospital administration, dentistry, medicine, nursing, public health, and health and rehabilitation sciences. By offering a distinctive range of Bachelors degrees, IUPUI promotes the educational, cultural, and economic development of central Indiana and beyond through innovative collaborations, external partnerships, and a strong commitment to diversity.

The proceedings were informative and interesting as well. Oakridge students understood in an in-depth manner one of the foreign universities. We thank IUPUI for taking the time and effort to speak at our school, guiding us, and providing us with the information about the university, their academic programs, admission requirements, tuition fees, the application process and more…Copy of IMG_1208
