As part of the ‘Zero Bullying:
Whole School Program,’ several awareness sessions were planned for the students
of Grade 2. Despite reports of bullying in the 2nd Grade, it was considered
important to explain to the children “Who is a bully?” “What is bullying?” The
session also introduced the children to what they can do in the event of a
bullying incident — as a victim or as a bystander. This session aimed to
introduce the children to the word “bully” and how they can deal with it and
stop it. To complement this session, a “draw your bully” competition was held
for the children.
The students of each
section were divided into groups of 6 and asked to make a face mask of how they
view a bully. This activity helped in making the children understand the
concept of bullying while engaging them in a fun activity. The students
incidentally came up with extremely creative depictions of a bully, making it a
fun learning activity. Ultimately, it proved difficult to choose a winner, as
all the face masks were extremely good. The children were extremely excited and
responsive which proved to be a good start to various other activities and
sessions to be conducted in the coming days.
