Celebration of World Read Aloud Day and Mem Fox’s Birthday

To raise awareness of the educational challenges that many children face, a non-profit organization called ‘LitWorld’ conducts World Read Aloud Day.  Junior School Library took part in celebrating World Read Aloud Day.

LitWorld says that “World Read Aloud Day is about taking action to show the world that the right to read and write belongs to all people. World Read Aloud Day motivates children, teens, and adults worldwide to celebrate the power of words, especially those words that are shared from one person to another, and creates a community of readers advocating for every child’s right to a safe education and access to books and technology.”

In connection with this event, Junior School Library organized the following activities: A session with an author, a special assembly on World Read Aloud Day and Mem Fox’s Birthday, and a session by Telugu children for sub staff of the school. Throughout the school, students read aloud for their friends. Children read the book written by Mem Fox and understood Mem Fox’s message. Few kids read with their parents and grandparents; they also read for their drivers, maids, and their children.
