It was followed by an excellent speech by Mr.Manohar. Later, students made a PPT presentation on our on going UOI topic Government which was followed by a question answer session. The Talk-show was a great experience in itself. We were spell- bound by his excellent command on the topic and also by the way he spoke. The Talk show ended with the presentation of a memento. The talk show was very enriching for both the students and teachers alike.

On 10-9-2011 we had our science internal assessment. We were asked to bring some materials for the experiment. 4 choices were given to us. We just loved doing the experiments. It felt as if we were just doing an inspirational experiment with ma’am going around the class. We improved on the profiles Inquirer, Risk Taker and Reflective. Most importantly, the assessment didn’t seem like an assessment! It was fun!!

Creativity and presentation skills are unleashed while participating in a Class Talk. The same was arranged in Grade V . The topic was “My Favourite Leader”. We dressed up and prepared information on a political leader or freedom fighter. We were assessed on our content, body language, expression, clarity, costumes etc. by our peers. We were grouped into pairs and were called one by one to present the information we had gathered on the leader. It was very informative because we learned many points on various famous leaders. I liked seeing my friends dressed up.The class talk was an excellent way to gain and give knowledge in a nice way.

Grade IIIA and IIIB made an attempt to develop the creative process that helps to promote thinking, confidence and sensitivity, and this is also a part of social and cultural development and enjoyment at Oakridge.

Keeping in mind all these positives, Children used ‘Creative Expressions’ to explore India with its rich and varied cultural heritage and celebrated unity in diversity within India and other countries.

The event was colorful and showcased the talent of the students.

We appreciate the efforts made by students and parents for making “Creative Expression” a grand success!!

In connection with the on going unit of inquiry, on 6th September, Grade 1 had a pet show where the parents volunteered to showcase their pets to the kids. There were fish, parrots, rabbits and finches. The kids were all excited and eager to see and learn about these animals. They had numerous questions like how parrots talk, how can a rabbit dig a burrow, what does it eat and more.

This activity helped the kids to increase their level of understanding. They also learned to appreciate the value of pets and how pets interact with human beings.

On the second day of the pet show, grade 1 kids eagerly welcomed the two lovely dogs - a Labrador and a cocker spaniel. One could see the different sets of emotions on children. By now  fear had taken the backseat and coexistence and fun became the rolling emotion.

This exercise will go a long way in creating the much required respect for animal thus fortifying the love for nature and its inhabitants.
