Today we the students of 7H conducted our class assembly based on the
theme: Bravery.
·
Bravery, as you see, is one thing a person requires in doing even the
simplest of things in daily life. It isn’t just fighting, or standing up to
people, it’s also standing up for yourself and knowing your own value!
·
The day started with a blessing: ‘God, make me brave for life: oh, braver than this.
·
Let me straighten after pain, as
a tree straightens after the rain, Shining and lovely again.
·
God, make me brave for life;
much braver than this. As the blown grass lifts, let me rise. From sorrow
with quiet eyes, knowing Thy way is wise.
·
God, make me brave, life brings such blinding things.
Help me to keep my sight; Help me to see a right that out of dark comes light’.
·
A thought was given to refresh
the minds: ‘You can, you should, and if you’re brave enough to start you will’.
·

This
morning the students of grade 1 came to the class with a feeling of excitement
of going for their 1st field trip. A lot of thoughts, confusions and
imaginations, all was happening at the same time in the little minds. After the
early snack we got into the busses and sang a lot of songs on the way to the
fire station. The students also revisited the essential agreements and finally
we were at our destination “Andhra Pradesh Fire Station”. The officials
welcomed the students by asking them their names and then started the learning
process. Students were told about how the firemen work with the equipment’s and
how they are used. They also saw how a “big fire” is put off. Overall it was a
learning session and the students came back with smiles and a lot more
questions in their minds.
One
thing that I as a teacher, definitely know that I have 14 boys in my class who
now want to become Firemen.

Today Grade 1 students went to A.P
Fire station in the context of the year long unit. The little Oakridgers learnt about
the functions of various equipment used in firefighting, rescue and evacuation.
The water tank demonstration was one of the best learning experiences for the
students. It was a new learning we gathered from them.
Grade 1 F students
experienced a fun yet educational field trip on 24-09-2014 when they visited
the Andhra Pradesh Fire Station. They had a great learning, touring the station
and observing how the firefighters live day-to-day. Learners observed different
equipment’s used by firefighters which was displayed for them. The fire station
officer explained them about fire safety and how they respond during fire
emergency situations. They saw different types of Fire engine’s, later a live
demo was given by fire station officers, where they saw a firefighter put on
his full gear and was trying to put off the fire using different types of water
pressure pipes. All the kids were so excited and even commented how they want
to be firefighters when they grow up. These are the experiences kids will take
with them for the rest of their lives!
The sphere of learning always
increases when the children are provided with opportunities to explore with
various things around them.As a part of inquiry into " Homes differ
depending on where people live".
Students of PP2F explored and
tried to make different types of Homes using the technology as there tool,
In Connection with the on-going unit “Homes”.. The learning potential of each
child is different, and so differs the creativity, they created various types
of houses around the world using iPad app Doodle buddy. They were excited to
present their piece of work to the group.
To
make spelling and vocabulary fun, Spell Bee was conducted in Grade 3. The
corridors were full of Spell Bee mobiles and our little bees were geared up in
yellow for the exciting event. They enthusiastically participated and showed
their knowledge of spellings in various rounds. They also reflected on their
performance and are confident to do better next time. No doubt the spell bees
of Grade 3 have been on quite a ride!
Grade 2 Students have
developed more understanding on their unit of inquiry on “Transportation” They
have used Mime skills to create “Different modes of transportation.” Students created
different modes of transportation using their body language and created sounds
of those vehicles. Students have learnt about mime skills and
used it for the integration.
Grade

through drama sessions. They did role
plays on different situations “How to respond during emergencies”. They have
enacted familiar situations like “They are playing in a park and one of them get
hurt” “They are playing and one of them gets bitten by a snake”, “Giving a
performance on stage and forgetting the dialogue”. Students brainstormed on
each of these situations and came up with solutions which they felt are apt for
the given situations. Students learnt how to respond if they forget any
dialogue, if someone is absent etc., during performance on stage and other
situations through a role play.
Students
