In connection with the on going unit of inquiry, on 6th September, Grade 1 had a pet show where the parents volunteered to showcase their pets to the kids. There were fish, parrots, rabbits and finches. The kids were all excited and eager to see and learn about these animals. They had numerous questions like how parrots talk, how can a rabbit dig a burrow, what does it eat and more.

This activity helped the kids to increase their level of understanding. They also learned to appreciate the value of pets and how pets interact with human beings.

On the second day of the pet show, grade 1 kids eagerly welcomed the two lovely dogs - a Labrador and a cocker spaniel. One could see the different sets of emotions on children. By now  fear had taken the backseat and coexistence and fun became the rolling emotion.

This exercise will go a long way in creating the much required respect for animal thus fortifying the love for nature and its inhabitants.

  1. It was pleasure to have kids asking so many questions.

I hope kids had a handful of experience to share with parents after the show.
