Friends

History and scriptures are replete with stories of friendship and one of the greatest friendships as revealed in the scriptures is that of Jonathan and David. The story goes that after David slew Goliath, Jonathan the eldest son of Saul took an instant liking for him. David and Jonathan's friendship grew and Jonathan loved David more than he loved himself. Saul felt insecure about this growing friendship and also David's increasing popularity. He made several failed attempts to kill David and also urged Jonathan to carry out the task of killing David. Jonathan realizing his father's intentions pleaded with David to flee and hide himself in the wilderness.

 

Friendship Day is celebrated on the first Sunday in the month of August, a day to express your love and loyalty to your friends, to express your feelings of gratitude to a friend who perhaps helped you in your times of need. The Principal, Capt.Bajaj speaking on Friendship Day in the morning assembly acknowledged and thanked the staff and students for their support and help to him in carrying out the responsibilities of the school. He asked the students to reflect on how good a friend they are..do they have the courage to stand up for their friends? Something to ponder indeed. We talk about friendship but there are very few who live up the trust, loyalty and love that goes with the word '.friend'
