Student Reflection: Oakridge's Junior Internship Program — Taste of my Future

As a student, many a time during talks, we come across the topic of aspirations and, with the help of our school, we've finally been able to give light to our words. Oakridge's Junior Internship Program titled "Taste of my Future" was the key to the treasure of our dreams and aspirations.

After departing off for winter break, the needle of our compass pointed a different way for each one of us. Some of us set out to intern under wonderful people like lawyers, doctors, sportsmen, painters, etc.  The path I decided to sail towards was the path of business along with my friend who accompanied me. My task was simple: To spend a day or two with a person of the career that you aspire to be; that person will also be called your mentor.

My mentor was Ms. Sona Chatwani, who owns an interior designing company. She was a great mentor who spent time with me, answered my questions, and told me what it was like to be a wonderful interior designer as well as a hardworking business woman. Spending many hours with her, I realized how busy a career person she is. It takes a lot of hard work, cooperation, and commitment to be successful — the key things I learned and observed from her.

It was a great day in a life of a business woman; but, I learned that it comes with a lot of responsibility and duty. I left with a whole briefcase of knowledge — the challenges, opportunities, hard work, and commitment of a successful business woman like Ms. Sona Chatwani. The internship turned out to be very fruitful and knowledgeable. As we know, there are many professions in the world and each one of them is special in its own way. Because of Oakridge, I was able to get a clearer picture of my aspirations after observing and learning from my new role model — Ms. Sona Chatwani.
