Ghouse Trade Union was started as an initiative to help drivers all
around Hyderabad overcome their everyday problems. Our inspiration, Mr. Mohammed
Ghouse, a chauffeur, told us about the hardships he faces on a daily basis. It
included issues such as low pay, working overtime, unhygienic working
conditions, and very few holidays. Mr. Ghouse had personally conveyed this to
us on a trip. We immediately suggested that he can form a group that uses
collective bargaining to come to terms with their owners. Thus, Ghouse Trade Union
was born. It helps drivers to live and work peacefully.

HAPA Trade Union stands for ‘H’arshini, ‘A’njali, ‘P’ragnya and ‘A’lekhya.
The subscription fee was decided at Rs. 77. We had to do a lot of research and
learnt a lot from this. We also found out how real trade unions work.
