University Presentation on School of Visual Arts, New York, USA — Creating Awareness about Visual Arts

On March 28, 2014, Ms. Maneesha Gorti (College Advisor) organized a University Presentation on School of Visual Arts (SVA) that was presented by Ms. Aditi Khurana (Admissions Representative) for current XII Grade IBDP Students.

About SVA
SVA (www.sva.edu) has been a leader in the education of artists, designers, and creative professionals for more than six decades, and is associated with artists such as Salvador Dali and Megan Ryan. SVA is ranked second for a number of Computer Animation and Illustration courses as well as Design and Visual Arts. SVA College is a Member of Association of Independent Colleges of Art and Design, a consortium of 36 leading art schools in the United States.

The most popular courses are: BFA in Animation, BFA in Fine arts, BFA in Advertising, BFA in Design, and BFA in Film and Video. Starting as a trade school with 3 instructors and 35 students, SVA has grown into a dynamic, multidisciplinary institution with a faculty of more than 1100 and a student body over 4000 representing 44 states and 71 foreign countries.

Students’ Reflections

Art is a growing field for creative minds and inventive thinkers alike. As an IB Visual Arts student myself, design is both a passion and a discipline; this presentation caught my imagination very raptly. SVA is set in the heart of the cultural-artistic world — New York City.

However, what further made the presentation exciting was actual display of great art work along with captivating videos and animations produced at SVA. I was impressed by creativity in action promoted at SVA. I would definitely consider it after having attended the presentation.
Nikhil Jain, Grade XII-B IBDP

When we examine ourselves through creative self-expression, it brings us closer to who we really are; Art is an autobiography, and by using our sense spectrum, we are validating our presence in time. It's magic.”
Matthew James aptly describes my own interpretation of Art — Art and Design, both, are passions that never cease to inspire. Everyone watched with keen interest as Ms. Aditi Khurana used sophisticated animation and presentations to convey the University's qualifications, courses, and associated distinguished personalities. After attending this presentation, I would undoubtedly add SVA to my leading priorities.
