PROFILE WEEK CELEBRATIONS

An IB Learner is :

OIS Newton campus celebrated the profile week from 25th July to 5th August ,2011. You must be wondering what are profiles- and why is such a week celebrated in our school?

Profiles are the character traits that people should have. They are the ten different qualities (inquirer, thinker, knowledgeable, open minded, caring, principled, risk taker, balanced, and reflective) that makes a person complete. In OIS, we seek to enforce ourselves by constant reference to the profiles every day. We have profiles in classes, atrium, and everywhere you look you find them- constantly reminding how we can be better.

But even then, OIS celebrates a profile week to make us even more aware of the profiles in one self- so that we celebrate and showcase the improvement in oneself and try to be even better.

During this week we tried to express what we meant by the profiles and integrated them within ourselves in every way we could like in classes, assemblies, and also in the library. This mostly took place in the junior school.

In our class, V F, we took personalities and analyzed the primary profiles exhibited by them. For example we took the famous personalities like- Nelson Mandela, Mahatma Gandhi, Mother Teresa, Jawaharlal Nehru, etc. We also took our principal, head mistress, our coordinators, class teacher (Kiran Mai ma’am). Some of us even took our parents for this exercise.

This profile week was a very creative, informative, fun and exciting week for all of us. Don’t ever think we stop with it; everyday is a profile day at Oakridge.
