The Treasure Fest is always a much anticipated event – especially the Basketball segment. This year the response has been overwhelming with over 30 schools taking part. Originally scheduled to begin on the 25th of August, the competition was preponed by a day to accommodate the number of participants.
The inaugural ceremony took place on the morning of August 24th. It was presided over by our Principal, Mr.Rohit Bajaj, our Vice Principal, Mrs. Jyothi Turaga and the Chief Guest Mr. Mohammad Rizwan.
Mr.Rizwan was the former captain of the National Basketball Team. The Principal gave a very poignant speech that emphasized the role of sports in education and the importance of being a team player. Mr.Rizwan also gave an inspiring speech about passion and following your dreams.
They were followed by the school choir singing the much loved anthem, ‘Waving Flag’. The ceremony concluded with the commencement of the opening match played between DPS Khajaguda and Glendale Academy.
All in all, it was a very good start to what is sure to be yet another exciting tournament.
