Spoorthi - A new kind of joy

You learn when you give. Spoorthi has been the most wonderful learning experience for all the participants. Watching the children come into our school with beaming faces and sitting in our classrooms with wide eyes has been an inspiration for all of us who have taught them. The Spoorthi children have always been eager to soak up new ways of thinking and become more aware of the world around them. Spending time with them over the year has given them a special place in all our hearts. When their eyes light up after they’ve understood something, be it in science, basketball or even health class, the volunteers are filled with pride.

On the 14th of July, students of 11th and 12th grade volunteered to be a part of the Spoorthi family. While some taught them Math and English, others introduced them to the worlds of Art, Dance and Physical Education. The air was filled with a purpose and that purpose was to teach and learn. While grammar was taught in the classrooms, the water cycle was taught next to a puddle out on the field. The children were very energetic and their enthusiasm was contagious. Most of the volunteers agreed that they experienced a kind of joy they had never felt before. This Spoorthi session was one more among many on the road to developing creative and globally aware students.
