Students of grade 8 G connected math to
real-life context by completing an assignment on Data Handling. They
chose a research question from the following:
Is Math more important than Art?
How much do people recycle?
Are teenagers affected by advertising?
How do people's spending habits change
as they get older?
Do teenagers have a good diet?
Then they planned a way to collect real-time
data by selecting their sample from a defined population, carefully drafted
research questions, collected the data and represented them pictorially.
Finally, they presented their data in the form of a PPT before the class. The
process not only helped the students understand the different steps in handling
data and making a connection with real-life context but also was a
lot of fun!
