“Our
high respect for a well-read person is praise enough for literature.” – T.S Eliot
On
13th December, our Grade 4 children got an opportunity to converse
through Skype with an award-winning author Ms. Chitra Banerjee Divakaruni on
their ongoing POI topic “Literature” in the Junior School Library.
The
session started with children sharing the central idea of their Unit. The author then told that sometimes authors
use personal experiences, but many times authors use their imagination and
research to create stories. Ms. Chitra does research before writing her historical
novels. Curious young learners read her books and were happy to ask some questions
related to the story and related to their UOI topic. Kids were glad to hear the
author’s favorite books among her own books. She told that all books are like
her children.
The
author cleared all the questions asked by our inquirers. Children were delighted
to know about the author’s inspiration to write stories as the author stays in the
US and she wanted to tell lot of stories
and she wanted the Indian origin kids who stay in the US to know more about
India, Indian Characters, History of India, etc. The author was excited to
answer a question asked by a child in Bengali.
To
sum up, it was an interactive, learning, quality session.
