“There’s always
room for a story that can transport people to another place.”
J. K. Rowling
We at Oakridge encourage the children in many
ways to read and make reading as their habit. Today we had a Skype session with
a well-known children’s award-winning author Ms. Deepa Agarwal, with our Grade
2 children in connection with their unit of inquiry on ‘Stories’. In the
library, students discussed and inquired about the author Ms. Deepa
Agarwal. They read her books and
discussed the way she writes, about her life etc.
During the Skype session with her, children
asked questions such as “Do you write books only for kids?”, “What was the
first story you wrote?”, “What are the biggest books you made?”, “Who is your
favorite writer?”, “How many stories have you written so far?”, “What were the
challenges you faced while you were writing?” etc.
Children were happy to know that Ms. Deepa
writes Biographies apart from Fiction. Our learners were satisfied with the
tips given by the author to become a good writer. It was an
interactive learning Skype session.

Many thanks for organizing the session! I thoroughly enjoyed talking to the kids. I must congratulate Oakbridge International School and librarian Veena Bhat for their enthusiastic commitment to promoting the reading habit and nurturing creativity in their students. Wish you all the best!
