On 8th February, 2014, the first batch of students from Grade 9 IGCSE
and Grade 11 IBDP accompanied by Ms. Siby Gladis visited Microsoft, Gachibowli.
We reached Microsoft and started off with a ‘Meet and Greet’ session
where we introduced ourselves. Then we were put in pairs and had to perform
about four tasks. We shared our laptop screens with the help of Skype so that
they could observe the way we go about with our tasks.
The tasks that I and my partner did were making “a poster for your
friend” about the worth-visiting places in Hyderabad. After finishing the
tasks, we presented them to the Program Managers; they also showed us some cool
ways to make the task easier and more appealing. We had a lot of fun and
acquired ICT knowledge from the Program Managers.

The session in Microsoft was very intuitive and helpful. We learnt
some advanced features of Microsoft Office. They gave us 4 different tasks and
had their team monitor and analyse our work. The tasks that we were asked to
work upon were:
Task 1: Create a family tree for yourself.
Task 2: Create a poster to send to your friend telling him top places
to visit in Hyderabad.
Task 3: Make a movie/Presentation showing how you start your day and
end it.
Task 4: Show a comparison of the batting statistics of Sachin, Sehwag,
and Kohli.

It was a wonderful opportunity to go to Microsoft and attend their
event. We were fortunate to express our views and concerns about their
products. We enjoyed the session.

The Microsoft Launch Program was an exciting and educative experience
for all of us. Through the creative tasks and handy tips shared, we were taught
some very useful knowledge related to the growing field of technological
application.
