INTER HOUSE FACE PAINTING COMPETITION

Face painting is the artistic application of cosmetic "paint" to a person's face.  Over the last few years, face paint has evolved as a major fun pastime for children.

The Amphitheatre of Oakridge International School came alive once again on Thursday 19,July 2012 with lots of colour when around 300 senior school students participated in the inter house face painting competition.

Instantly the students were metamorphosed into beautiful imaginary beings and animated faces when the artists painted the faces of their models. It was a breath taking sight to see them engaged in this wonderful activity on the steps of the amphitheatre. The participants proved that there are no limits to what fun creations can be used, and children were delighted that their appearance can be transformed into something fun and different.

Face painting is not only decorative, or entertaining, but can also make a statement, deliver an artistic message or form a part of a professional costume. It is also a common form of entertainment at county fairs or on market days, and draws the attention of children and adolescents in this way.

The duration of the competition was one hour- from 10:15am to 11:15 am. The registrations began at 10:00am.The Judging was done by our very own art activity teachers of senior school. They graded the students on their technical expertise , aesthetic sensibilities, originality of the idea, creativity, innovative approach, use of colour, neatness, finishing and the overall impression in which the artist had to explain the idea behind his/her painting to the  judges.
