Dream House Project with Grade 8 Students

Students of Grade 8 (CBSE) completed an experiential Math project and used their creative juices to construct their dream houses. The budding architects used their understanding of solid shapes, volume and surface area to build a simple dream house using different shapes and calculating area of each room there by finding the total area required to build that house. The house also included a swimming pool or puppy house for which they found the volume.

Students presented their calculation work, detailed explanation of the layout, and materials used. A few houses had high tech areas such as helipad, indoor lifts, and removable roof. They had a lot of fun exploring, building and using Mathematics in a real-life context.
