First Oakridge Alumni Meet 2013

The first Oakridge Alumni Meet was held at Newton campus. It was a beautiful morning, a perfect day to have all the students come back to school and experience the changes that have taken place over the years.

The energy and spirit that the students came with were unbelievably high. It was so refreshing and exciting to see their faces. Today, they are all successful individuals, not the Oakridge kids that we have known them to be. But I suppose coming back to school takes them back to being the same old kids they used to be. The corridors were ringing with noise. The prefects showing them around probably felt they were the older people compared to our Alumni who were a joy to have around.

The event started with the Alumni taking a school tour. They were all surprised at how big school has become and how much had changed since they were last in school. They didn’t recognize much of the building, but when they all neared the familiar corridors and came close to their classrooms, you could clearly hear the excitement in their voices. They were running around and chasing each other in the corridors, just like old times.

While talking about school, one of the students said that “the school has nurtured them and has made them the people they are today.” In the words of another student, “Oakridge International School taught them to believe in themselves and think outside of the box at all times,” which invariably sets them apart even in a crowd. It was evident that our Alumni were all so overwhelmed to be in school. Some of them said they had goose bumps when they were walking around school. You could sense the nostalgia in their voices. It felt so good to see them all so happy and overjoyed to get associated with their Alma Mater.
