A Symphony of Colors

Every child has the right to express itself. And here at Oakridge, we strive to fulfill those desires and help every child realize their rights.
‘Splash’: A colorful and exciting initiative of the Concern India Foundation was hosted by Oakridge International School’s IBDP segment on 2nd August, Saturday at their Newton campus, Gachibowli.  166 differently abled children from Shanmuga Society for the Mentally Challenged (Kamlapuri Colony), Sri Vidhya’s Centre for the Special Children (East Marredpally), Medhosampathhi Special School (Kukatpally), Greens Special School (Mehdipatnam), Manokrushi Institute for the Mentally Disabled (Asif Nagar), and Special Care School (B.H.E.L. Township) converged at Oakridge with one aim in their minds: to paint and dance their hearts out. Of course, the IBDP-1 students were more than happy to assist them towards this by making friends with them and by providing them with a comfortable and safe environment.
As one of the IBDP students actively involved in the organization of the event, I was able to glimpse into the lives of these wonderful children. I found in many of the drawings bottled up emotions and feelings splashed out in various colors. I feel that my class and I were really able to make a difference, and a lasting memory.
