On the 18th of November, 2013, the
class of 9 F had their CAS activity. The aim of this activity was to talk and
interact with the ayahs and the drivers of Oakridge International School. The students walked all around the school and
spent time with the ayahs and filled up the questionnaire given to them. Then
later, they interviewed the drivers, taking pictures and capturing these fun
memories!
Each student interviewed 2 ayahs and 2 drivers
asking them about their basic background and their children/child’s education. The
students asked them if they needed any financial support for education,
marriage, housing facilities, etc. The students found that most of these drivers or
ayahs didn’t have houses to reside in. They needed money for their children’s
education and marriages. Most of their children had only studied till 10th
grade and some even less than that!
We as a student community hope to help the drivers
and ayahs. This particular CAS activity made the students
more open-minded and helped them understand the situation prevailing around
them.
Here are a few of the students’ feelings about
this CAS activity:
“It was fun! We really enjoyed spending time
with the drivers as we normally don’t talk to them outside.” Manasa
“It was an amazing activity.” Shreya
Overall, this was a fun activity and all the
students enjoyed a lot.
