We left on the 15th of October from Hyderabad to
Delhi and from there we boarded an overnight bus to take us to Sitlakhet. Pinewood
Cliff is located approximately 375 km from Delhi. Due to the difficult terrain high
up in the mountains, from Sitlakhet we had to travel in jeeps.
Nestled in Kumaon Himalayas, at a height of 7500
ft, Pinewood Cliff campus is a quiet and picturesque campsite offering a clear
180° view of the Himalayan Peaks. Weather at Pinewood Cliff campus is cool even
in summer with temperatures ranging from 15° to 26° Celsius but, when we went
the temperature even dropped to 10° Celsius at night.
When we finally arrived at the campus we had
about an hour to freshen up and then we made 3 teams for the various activities
we would do later. We spent the evening ice breaking with our teams. On the
second day we went for a short trek and then arrived at huge rocky structure
where we climbed it and then rappelled down! Later at night we had a famous
magician named Ishamuddin come to the campus and show us a few amazing magic
tricks
.
On the next day we set out for trekking and we
had to carry our own tents and sleeping bags! Once we reached where we were
supposed to camp we pitched our tent and began to cook our own food with no
help in anything including setting up the fire!
The next morning we got up early and trekked 7 km
all the way back up the mountain until we reached the campus. By the time we
reached we were exhausted and had 3 hours of free time and then after that we
had Youreka Premier League, which was a bunch of games that each team had to play
to determine which team was the best. That night we had some ‘Camp Closure’ and
we also had a dance till about 11 pm!
The next morning we drove off to Nainital, a
serene hill station, where we did much street shopping in the Tibetan Market
and boated on the beautiful Nainital lake! From there we got onto our buses and
drove back to the Delhi airport and back to Hyderabad. It was truly an
amazingly memorable trip and all of us had great fun throughout the trip!
