EXCHANGE PROGRAM TO AUSTRALIA (Sydney)

OIS, in partnership with SNOWLION ESTATES, NEW DELHI has organized an EXCHANGE PROGRAM TO AUSTRALIA (Sydney) in the course of the academic year 2010-11. Oakridge believes in empowering its students and this was an opportunity given by the school to help students broaden their mind and outlook. This is the second exchange program organized by the school in their endeavor to connect with the wider world and make our students truly global citizens.

A Group of 9 students from grades 8-11 along with a teacher (Ms Swati Gupta-CBSE Math) went on a student Exchange Program to Menai High School in Sydney The students left for Australia on the 12th of October and returned on the 21st of October. The return visit by the Australian students is scheduled for February of 2011. The students interacted with the students of Menai High and have made life long friends. They got an oppurtunity to visit an Australian ranch and also see the sights of Sydney. They experimented with various foods too and generally enjoyed themselves. Our students also presented a song and dance show which was highly appreciated and enjoyed by one and all. The student’s also made a presentation on India. The Australian students are very eager to come on the return visit. They were also involved in the Formula One racing car dems which is a speciality of the school. Our students were given a certificate on behalf of the Australian government. This will be useful when they apply for admissions abroad.

All in all it was a successful trip and our students came back enriched and enlightened.

  1. Better awareness on cultural differences - Studying in another country opens the student to different surroundings, which makes the student acquainted with the country's customs, people and region. Perhaps, cultural awareness is the major impact of any student exchange program. Being aware of other culture also teaches the student how to be open-minded, thus, molding the student's personality for the better.
