Proactivity -- ‘being the pilot of your own life’

Today (November 16  2010) was our (8C) morning assembly and we chose to speak on the topic - Proactivity. We thought this was a very important topic as it sends across a great message. ‘Proactivity’ can best be described by the phrase ‘being the pilot of your own life’ .
We gave a few examples of what happens when you don’t take control of your own life like the times you lock yourself up in the bedroom distressed and crying. We told them to look at things with a new perspective, stop getting bossed around. To stand up for  themselves and to take control of their own life. How can your life be controlled by other people? We told them that they were the kings( and queens) of their own castle and to be confident and strong like nobody else could. We also told them not to take control of other people’s lives as well and that the main rule in life is
“Do unto others as you would want them to do unto you”.
We reminded them that if proactivity meant being the pilot of their own lives,  then to never let go of the steering wheel. We were confident that we got the message through to everybody present there.
