TAISI Basketball Tournament

Hello everyone my name is Suraj and I’m here to tell u about my experiences about the basketball tournament that took place at the Vishwashanti Gurukal in Pune.
We a group of 11 students (7 basketball, 2tennis and 2 for swimming) along with our Sir, Mr.Srinivas set off on a road journey to pune in a Volvo bus. We had been asked to go back home half day and pack our bags and stay at the bus stop by 5 ‘o’ clock. As most of us reached the bus stop by 4:15 or some people came at 4:45 and finally at 5 the bus had come and it was time for us to leave. We waved bye to our parents and set off. On the bus ride we were excited and couldn’t sit in our seats because of our emotions. We arrived at the Vishwashanti Gurukal campus and to our amazement the 160 acre campus just added to our excitement. The even more surprising fact was we were greeted by one of our own Sir, Mr.Aslam who once taught in our school. As expected after the 11 hour bus ride any normal person would be exhausted but our excitement took over. The campus was no different from school as we had a set of rules and regulations to be followed at all times. We were ready in an hour’s time, and were off to practice.
The next day was probably going to be the most important day for everyone on our team, as it was the day we played the first game as a team.

The first game was against Billabong International School. The game was intense but the outcome was with full of joy as we won by 12 points.

The next day was the day in which only the four top teams were left, yea u guessed it right it was the semi finals.

Our opponents for our semi finals match were Podhar International School and we continued our amazing form from the last game and beat yet another team comprehensively.

We went for lunch but ate light as we had our biggest game of all, the finals. It was the game we all had been waiting for with fear in our mind and thrill in our heart we embraced ourselves the push ourselves the hardest we ever done before. As we entered the court we thought of a saying by one of the all time legend Michael Jordan “skill wins games but teamwork wins championships”. In front of us was another team who were no less in skill, Wisdom High School. Their team looked well prepared but we were the better team and in the third quarter when the score was 56 to 9 the opposing team had already given up the fight as their coach had lost hope in them and quit the game, but the team members had admirable sportsmanship to come up to us and congratulate our effort and wished us luck for in the future. We were back in the dorm as relaxed as ever and thought about how we improved game by game and how teamwork is truly the thing which wins championships.

It was the last event that we had in the campus it was the prize distribution. The chief guest honourable Professor Dr. D. Karadh  honoured us with our prizes.

The next day was occupied in packing our bags as we had to get back and hit the road to Hyderabad. We arrived back at Hyderabad and got off the bus with medals and trophies in our hands. And we could see the delight on our parents face. We all went back home waiting for another chance to go together to another place and shine wherever we go. This was a fun filled trip and we thank our school for giving us this opportunity. This is an experience we will never forget.
