Google it!!!

Today, children are surrounded by technology layer in the environment and everything that they imagine or dreamt can be visualized and experienced in a click away.  Information provided in the class is available at the click of finger tips through ICT. Technology is now such an important part of children’s everyday lives that a learning environment without it would be completely out of touch with their own realities.

As PYP believes in trans-disciplinary teaching and learning process, ICT tools play a key role in developing learners’ conceptual understanding. This time they used the Google maps to provide informative knowledge to the students. The students were inquired about the endangered species in different parts of the world. The teachers have replaced the atlas with Google Earth tool to locate the places on the World map. They children were able to draw a connection between knowledge on endangered species and map pointing. This form of experiential learning correlated the children to the unit of inquiry on adaptations of living beings.

Web tools like Google map helps children to become interested and inclined in the topic at hand, instilling zeal for learning more in an interactive environment.
