Smiley as Brownie Points

Making oral presentations is an art and an interesting presentation will involve and capture the attention of the audience. People vary in their ability to speak confidently in public, but most of the time the speaker gets nervous. Therefore, it is necessary for the teachers to groom the students in order to improve their oral presentation skills from the beginning itself. Few things that the presenter needs to keep in mind are the quality of the voice, rapport with the audience and use of notes and visual aids and now it was time for the Oakridgers of Grade I to be introduced to the academic grooming, but there is always a twist in the approach taken by the teachers.

This twist has always been the uniqueness of the school and also serves as a lens into inner workings of the school. As the school believes in making the students gain knowledge through experiential learning, it took up the task of getting the children engaged in a responsibility gala for one week. The kids took care of their toy/plant imagining it to be a real one for the whole week. The week came to an end with a gala wherein the students shared their experiences and memorable incidents with their classmates in the form of an interview and their class buddies had assessed them by giving smileys.

The students developed refreshing ideas and came across new points. It was an unusual and different experience for the students as each child got a chance to present, and further on was also given the opportunity to use rubric scoring for evaluating. This activity imbibed in the students a silver tongue for oral presentations in the future.
