Oakridge won The Innovative Institution Award



Spark!Lab Invent IT Challenge 2012 was organized by epals global community.

Oakridge International School was awarded The Innovative Institution Award for the school with the highest number of classrooms entering the contest. There were a total of 6 entries from OIS, Newton Campus. The entries included Dispensometer by Nithin, Green house by Neo and Aneesh, the Cooling and Heating Robe by Aaryav, The Instant Heating Machine by Aaryav M., Walkie Talkie by Keerthana and Yami-Life by Ishaan. All the students are studying in Grade 5 at OIS, Newton Campus.

Nithin Srinivasan’s innovative invention, “The Dispensometer” has won the Judges’ Pick Award in Challenge 3, Age group 9-11. It’s a tie between Nithin from India and Hannah from the USA. Challenge 3 was all about finding a real-world problem and coming up with an invention to solve it.

The winners were selected out of hundreds of entries from across the world. The panel of judges comprised of Smithsonian, Lemelson Center and ePals staff. The judges scored entries based on how the invention solves a real world problem, how the key steps of invention were addressed, and the creativity and originality of the idea. The inventions helped students to transform into inventors who know how to think, explore, sketch, create, try, tweak and sell!
