On 20th august, 2011 we had the IBDP re-orientation session. Its purpose was to refresh and re-instil the IB expectations, procedures and requirements in the students, parents and the teachers.
The session began with the Principal’s address, who detailed the school’s commitment to the IB system further outlining the various new initiatives which the school had taken to enrich the student’s IB experience. He reiterated the importance of hard work , reminding us that the school gives its best to us and so, deserved the best in return.
We then had a talk by our IBDP co-coordinator, Mr Biju Baby. He painstakingly lead us through the procedures of the IB exams, grades and our predicted grades, underling the adverse effect of present procrastination on later grades, thereby inducing a healthy fear in all the students. He also requested the parents to involve themselves extensively in their child’s education and activities, mentioning that only a collaborated effort from the parents, teachers and students would result in success.
The school career counsellor, Ms. Anusha then briefed us about our university application process reminding us of the importance of meeting out deadlines. The latter part of the day then began with our introduction to the Univariety team, who have an affiliation with People’ Combine Group and will guide us through our placement process from now on. This being their first session, they outlined the various career prospects available to us after 12th highlighting a few Indian and foreign universities and their requirements. All in an all, it was a very informative session which really did re-orient us with all that we are expected to do.
