Treasure Fest 2011 began with full gusto today, the 26th of August. The opening ceremony was graced by the presence of the popular Telugu actor and six-time Nandi Award recipient, Dr. Sri Hari. He gave a profound speech on the importance of being a self-made person.

Our Principal, Capt. Rohit Sen Bajaj, also spoke of the importance of the role of performing arts and sports in education. He particularly emphasized that it was the performing arts and sports that lent colour to a student’s personality, and they also helped one to understand oneself better.

The motto for Treasure Fest 2011 is ‘ad astra’- reach for the stars. The school choir and teachers aptly gave a beautiful rendition of the song ‘Reach for the Stars’ by S Club 7.

With this, Treasure Fest 2011 was officialy declared open, and we are sure that there will be much excitement between now and the closing ceremony!

METAMORPHOSIS

This year marked the beginning of a very interesting event called ‘Turn Coat’. Going against all conventions, the contestants had to speak on both the pros and cons of a topic. If that wasn’t enough, the topic was given on the spot! It was definitely a very demanding event, and it was very enjoyable to watch. All the participants raised excellent points, and it was refreshing to hear both sides of an argument in such a short span of time.

HARMONY OF EXPRESSION

This competition, held in the atrium, was exceptional. Contestants were given time to create elaborate floralarrangements on a given theme. While watching the contestants work, one had to admire their deftness, creativity, and skill. Many of them also went the extra mile by designing beautiful stands and planters to display their floral creations. The final sight of all the finished bouquets was amazing! The judges will definitely have a tough time judging this competition!

SPIN A YARN

All of us like to hear stories, but how many of us are good at telling them? This competition definitely emphasized that storytelling is an art. The contestants were given the starter, and had to continue the story for about 5 mintues. The audience for this event was particularly captivated, and many of them were transfixed by the magic of words. Again, this was a difficult competition to judge, as the innovativeness of the participants left us all spell-bound.

ELOQUENCE

Always an important event at Treasure Fest, this year’s Elocution competition was no different. The topics set were particularly interesting, and this made the competition all the more enjoyable. The contestants made insightful points and spoke lucidly.

BATTLE OF WITS

This competition was a Balloon Debate. This year, the event was a little different, as the topics chosen were ones that the audience could relate to. For example, one debate was about Diego Maradona, the controversial football star. The audience was also voicing their opinions along with the contestants, and this made for a very lively competition.

WESTERN AND EASTERN GROUP SONG

The interschool western and eastern group song competition for Treasure Fest 2011 had 3 categories of participants-Category A, B and C. Each category had about 8-10 groups with 8-14 students in each group. In the eastern group song, songs about patriotism, praise to deities and beliefs were sung. In the western group song, topics like unity, peace, freedom and hopes & dreams were covered in the songs. Both events had some melodious music assisting the singers from instruments like drums, keyboard, guitar and tabla. Songs that were sung ranged from old classics to new-age hits, and some were composed by the teachers and were in different languages. Overall, it was a melodious, musical and beautiful competition that everyone- the participants and the audience- enjoyed ♦
