We teachers of Route Number 3 planned a day out on 15th August 2011. This outing was very special not like most other outings we did previously. We visited Sannihitha – an orphanage home. There were about 50 children who gave a warm welcome to us with lots of excitement.
We sang rhymes with them and told them stories. They were all eager to learn. The little ones also treated us by signing beautiful songs. One girl with her sweet voice sang a heartfelt song in Telugu which is still humming in our ears. The song goes like this “Aakashani Kalusthe Aadukuthana Amma Adhani….” (This means “If I can meet the sky I will inquire about my mother…….”).
We had lunch with them. The spread was not large but what we had definitely filled our souls. We never had such a tasty food before. The most unusual thing about the children was that all of them were girls ….
Shobha, Sridevi, Kiranmai , Hephziba and Ganga
