A workshop on “Classroom Management; what works in classrooms!” under the aegis of The Teacher Foundation, Bangalore, who are the leaders in training the teachers was organised on 30 Jul 2011 for select teachers at the school.
The objectives of the workshop were as follows:-
(i) Purpose of classroom management
(ii) Components of classroom management
(iii) Planning and Conducting class
(iv) How to use the physical space in a classroom
(v) Techniques of classroom management and
(vi) Handling special situation in a class
The program director steered the workshop by encouraging the participants to share their views and experiences on effective classroom management. This was followed with deep diving and brain storming on a wide array of issues over and above appended above and arriving at consensus on the ideal ways of effective management of the class. This led to attaining deep insights into innovative ways to manage a class and also enabled a paradigm shift amongst the participants. The workshop, thereafter, focussed on effective and innovative classroom management taking into consideration the rapidly changing external environment, tech savvy children, sensitivities involved in handling children with divergent backgrounds and multi-cultural environment.
Finally, the program director summed up the salient points/her point of view, aimed at broadening the horizons of the teachers and empowering them with new techniques/strategies to foster conducive environment for learning in the class.
