Silk Worms Stretching silk to make a single layer of a blanket
Wheel to weave silk Silk Worm Cocoons
Three months of planning and preparation ….frequent emails and innumerable phone calls and I could see the efforts paying off when I saw a jubilant group of Oakridgers coming back from their WEMUN trip to China. It has been a learning experience for me too.
In my interactions with the students I could gauge they had enjoyed every moment of their stay. It was amazing to see that the experience had added a new dimension to their personalities. I find them more interactive and very confident now. Reflecting on the WEMUN experience Shravani and Aakanksha shared how they have learnt to look at things from different perspectives and also to deliberate on problems and resolve them in a meaningful way. Abhijit and Himshika spoke about the MUN giving them the confidence to face a larger audience and made them more responsible to the current global issues and the need to address them.
The students particularly enjoyed the Global Village where the delegates got to showcase their countries. The students from Oakridge had carried miniature works of art and handicrafts which evoked good response among the viewers there. Enriched by this experience and the many opportunities that come their way I am sure the Oakridge community will be the trend setter in any leadership programme.
