Music Day @ Oakridge

Music breaks all divisions of race, religion, caste and creed. It’s a wonderful force which can bring and establish international peace, love and brotherhood. The idea of World Music Day was conceptualized first in France in 1976, by an American musician, Joel Cohen. He proposed an all-night music celebration to mark the beginning of the summer solstice.
Each year we celebrate World Music Day at Oakridge Newton campus as a token of gratitude to appreciate all the musicians around the world as the Oakridge family has creative and talented musicians.
This year we lost our much loved music teacher, Mr. Terrance Thornton on 30, May, 2013 and we paid a tribute to him on the World Music Day which was celebrated on 21, June, 2013.
We had invited his family to join our show and were delighted to have them with us. Our principal Captain Rohit Sen Bajaj addressed the gathering and presented a bouquet with a token of our love to Mr. Terry’s family. Our Vice Principal Mrs. Hema C. presented his children with the canvas signed with little notes of remembrance by the Oakridge family.
The show was amazing with lively performances – rock band, beat-boxing, karaoke sing along songs solo and group which were enjoyed by one and all. It was a superb show which was coordinated by our Co-curricular coordinator Ms Rubina.
We loved and enjoyed every moment while anchoring this event. “It has been rightly said that if man is the best creation of God, then music is the best creation man”.
